CAMPAIGN 2000

Lawson's election campaign in 1996 had a glossy booklet with pictures from The Wizard of Oz".  The booklet was entitled There's no place like home to learn right from wrong."  Accompanying it was a bumper sticker with the same slogan, a message for parents and their children from State Attorney Lawson Lamar."  His face doesn't appear in the brochure, but the credit is on the back cover and inside the booklet. The Orlando Sentinel touted it in an editorial on February 26, 1996, No place like home to start." See page 7 of the booklet on HONESTY: Honesty means telling the truth.  It means not misleading others for our own benefit."

The 2000 election year pitch featured a series of billboards (there were supposed to have been 22)  Anti-crime billboards a sign of the times" by Debbie Salamone Wickham, the Orlando Sentinel, March 30, 1999 at page D-3 Let's make Central Florida a violence and drug-free community.  It's your choice and your responsibility. Have you practiced a random act of kindness today? Sponsored by State Attorney Lawson Lamar."  Lindamood learned from a public records request is that drug forfeiture money was used to pay for posting the billboards on locations "donated" by Eller Media.
